“Whispers in Silk” is a large scale, meditative painting inspired by the timeless grace of Japanese red-crowned cranes and the elegant flow of traditional kimono textile design. It speaks not with loud colours, but with poise, softness, and quiet beauty,  inviting the viewer into a world of stillness, balance, and contemplative movement.

The cranes are rendered in a lyrical style, their forms suggested by flowing lines and gestural brushstrokes, evoking grace, and ritual. 

I was moved by the strength and symbolic power of cranes in Japanese culture , emblems of longevity, peace, and spiritual elevation. Their imagery in kimono textiles often reflects wishes for harmony, grace, and good fortune. This painting is a personal response to that tradition, translating fabric into paint, and stillness into colour and form.
